Provide so much fucking value that you are indispensable.
If you provide a lot of value overall, you can make a lot of mistakes but you can get away with it because your overall package is so good.
It's not about asking for a favor
It's not about asking permission
It's about doing the right thing, to make anyone who doesn't give it to you STUPID.
If your boss doesn't give you a raise, go to a competing company and outclass them there.
If you are offering value there will be a market for you.
